Question: I can’t view the video taken with Smartscope on my PC, what should I do?

Answer: The videos taken with Smartscope should be viewable with Windows Media Player 12. This media player is only available for Windows 7. If you are using an earlier Windows version you may need to install a codec and container handler.

If you are using Windows XP or Windows Vista start by installing Xvid from the following link:

http://www.xvid.org/Downloads.15.0.html

Installation should be done with default settings, choosing option “Decode all supported FourCCs (DivX, DX50, MP4V).

If you still cannot view video recorded with Smartscope install Matroska Splitter from the following link:

http://haali.su/mkv/MatroskaSplitter.exe

Matroska Splitter and Xvid support each other so do not uninstall Xvid after installing Matroska Splitter

The video format can also be changed from Smartscope Device Menu to MPEG1 instead of MPEG4. MPEG1 can be viewed with older Media Player versions without installing a codec and container handler.
